Solar Power Revolution

Isn’t modern technology incredible? No, but really! Just think about it! When I was a young boy, growing up in Melbourne, we’d just been hearing rumblings about the effects that coal was having on our planet. Dirty was the word they threw around – dirty fossil fuels, polluting our water and our sky and our cities. Of course, it wasn’t bad enough to actually do anything about it – not once those greedy companies got their hooks in every government on the planet, at least. So that was the way of things: the world getting dirtier, children coughing more, cars throwing disgusting smog into the atmosphere.

And then they started talking about something else. Not just pollution… something bigger. Existential, even. We were irreparably harming the planet’s ability to sustain life as we knew it, pumping carbon dioxide into the stratosphere at an unprecedented rate. I was an adult then, with my ear to the world, and I braced myself for the changes to come. Who would lift a finger to save a turtle, or comfort a coughing child? Nobody, obviously – but the end of life on Earth? That felt like we had a shot.

And so for decades… exactly nothing changed. Sure, they talked about change, about moving us away from dirty power, but nothing actually happened. The status quo was far too lucrative.

And so the fires got worse, the oceans more acidic. Until all of a sudden…

Everything took off! Hydro-power! Wind farms! And of course, commercial solar energy systems, installed in a blink of an eye across every city that ever saw the sun!

There were feeble attempts to fight back, of course, from the well-entrenched corners of political greed. But we didn’t fall for it this time!

Not when we could see the evidence with our own eyes.

Now we have all of the information to install solar energy in Melbourne, or any home in any city – wherever it needs to go, wherever it can go.

         Power to the solar revolution!

This is the end of the reign of dirty power!

So tell me… where do you stand?
